JOSM Progress

I am guessing that I will need a section on here somehow to spike out GPS related things. I have purchased a Garmin Vista Hcx, what a world of difference between the old GPS 12 and this. Full reviews to come at some point.

I have been working on creating maps and have learned a bit thus far. Roadmaps are based off of http://www.openstreetmap.org. I have completed mapping most of Bethlehem Township at this point but need to focus on street names in some of the areas. .IMG's are being posted to http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/ in an effort to improve the coverage of this area. Also working on Topo maps. Posted one for tug plateau in NY where I just got back from a XC skiing trip. Need to work on the northwest territories in Canada soon to get topo maps ready for a friends Dahl Sheep hunt in August.

Big find of the day was a way around the "You are out of memory, strange things may happen" in JOSM. Apparantly, JVM only allows so much memory. Launching the .jar with this string has allowed the map area to grow by 10 fold. The line below allocates 1 GB memory to JOSM.

java -Xmx1024M -jar C:\logicaldrive\GPS\josm-latest.jar
